Fergus O’Farrell the Artist
Put your hand in front of your face and slowly wave it about in the empty space. Of course it is not empty at all.
Dust particles, much of it human skin cells, tiny pieces of rock, wood, bacteria,,fungus spores, viruses, dry pieces of broken up amoeba….
It’s an immense universe and if you could keep zooming in eventually the molecules of the gases which air is composed of would start to become visible, the sunlight reflecting off the now huge galaxies of bacteria.
Travel onwards through the molecules, atoms, electrons, protons, neutrons……. until one is lost in an infinite ocean of quantum foam and the vibrating strings that are the music of existence itself.
I have made these works by playing my own music through whatever surface I am working on, the vibrations causing the paint to pool and splash which when dry become the basis of my improvisations exploring light, sound, and time.
Each one of my pieces you see here has been inspired, or co-created, by one of my compositions. A unique way for you to experience the music.
